Spain is opening its doors to the process of mediation.

The Projected Law regarding mediation suposes our commencement in the order of mediation as an alternative to resolve conflicts.

The Projected Law forsees the mediation as a stage prior and obligatory in those claims for the amount inferior to 6,000.00 euros.

In a conflicting matter, the mediator, acting as third impartial and independant party, will intend to bring closer opposing views and for both parties to reach some form of agreement.

The art of mediation is an institution with deep roots and acceptance by our neighbouring countries. Cristobal Ruiz from Cyclo Abogados attended a seminar over a year ago in London regarding the role and function of mediation in Great Britain. This institution has been greatly accepted and operates with much success within the civil and commercial law field, for those reasons it brings us joy to know that it will be fomented in Spain.

The advantages of mediation are obvious: reduction in the amount of litigations, the deadlines are short term (the process of mediation has a maximum term of two months) and the costs are also reduced for both parties.
